Too Busy to post on time..

I am writing this post several days after the shift I worked due to the fact that I really haven't had any free time. Saturday, I was assigned to "ride the seat" on Engine 3. For those of you who are not familiar with Station 3, it's first due area covers all most of the major shopping areas of the city and Liberty University. Well guess what day Saturday was, that's right it was Liberty's graduation day. So that meant an extra 20,000 people in out first due! Our day started out with a vehicle fire on 460 that shut the highway down for a few minute as we extinguished it with the help of Rescue 1. When we got back to the station we received a call from EMS1 to report over to LU to assist the standby medic units with patient care. Apparently the 85 degree weather was taking it's toll on the crowd. After treating dozens of patients, we were able to make it back to eat lunch and responded to a small mulch fire before heading out to the City Stadium for fireworks training for the shift fire inspectors. The class was taught by the company that does a lot of the area fireworks displays. It was a really good class and we got to launch a few fireworks off and see the differences between commercially and professionally available fireworks, theirs not much which is scary. The Rescue responded to a Technical Rescue call out for a rope rescue in Riverside park and that tied them up most of the day. The Engine ended up running 8 calls for the shift. I should have a post tomorrow. Until then, keep it safe.
